See a doctor online for flu treatment & skip the germy waiting room
It’s coming: the flu. Every year, like clockwork, we start an epic battle with germs. Coughs, runny noses, and sneezing — they’re inevitable. But is it the flu or the common cold? These two viral illnesses are easily confused but, unlike the common cold, the flu can be deadly. Luckily, it’s preventable.
3 simple tips to fight the flu
It’s hard to predict how exactly the flu season will shake out, when it’ll start, and how long it will last. Plus, the virus mutates and changes every year and throughout the season. The flu is a tricky virus, but here are 3 ways to fight it this flu season.

1. Get a flu shot
Get it as early as you can — it takes at least two weeks to protect you from the time of injection. Just be aware that the vaccine is a bit delayed this year, so practice steps 2 and 3 until you’re fully protected.
2. Practice good hygiene
This means washing your hands as much possible, especially after activities like riding public transportation. Soap and water are your best tools for warding off the virus.
3. Stop the spread of germs
Keep your germs to yourself. Cough into your elbow, wash your hands, and disinfect surfaces (the flu virus can live on surfaces for up to 2 days).
Rest, hydrate, and get treated
If you do get sick, take care of yourself. Most cases of the flu can be treated at home with rest and fluids, as well as acetaminophen (aka Tylenol) and/or ibuprofen (aka Advil) to manage fevers, aches, and pains. You can also get a prescription for antivirals, but they’re only effective if taken within the first 48 hours, so see a doctor early.
If you do get sick, leaving the house to see a doctor might be the last thing you want to do. Skip the germy waiting rooms and see a Maple doctor.
