• iCBT courses: Access to iCBT (internet-based cognitive behavioural therapy) self-assessment and courses.
• Access to specialists in eligible provinces: Easy access to specialists on Maple within days, not months. No referral is needed.
• Specialist referrals in eligible provinces: Ability to be referred to a physician specialist for in-person care, if needed.
• Credit discounts: An $80 credit per month to be applied to a Maple specialist visit.

Please note that our membership cannot be combined with other offerings, such as private insurance coverage and provincial programs, where available. In some cases, membership fees can be covered by a Healthcare Spending Account (HSA) — check with your HSA provider for more details.

Cephalexin is a cephalosporin antibiotic (also known as a beta-lactam antibiotic), which is used to treat certain types of bacterial infections.

A cephalexin prescription works by targeting bacteria throughout your body. The cephalexin will then either slow the growth of the bacteria, allowing for your body’s natural defences to fight off the infection, or it kills the bacteria altogether.

Cephalexin is able to do this by interfering with the way that bacteria build their cell walls, slowing or stopping its ability to reproduce.

A doctor from Maple may suggest giving you a Keflex prescription, if you are experiencing bacterial infections such as:

• Ear infections
• Urinary tract infections
• Strep throat

Cephalexin is almost always given as either a capsule or a tablet, to be taken orally.
Occasionally, you may be given a cephalexin prescription in a liquid form, also to be taken by mouth.

Dosage in any form will depend on the recommendation of your doctor, as well as the location or severity of the bacterial infection. Always follow your prescribed dosage and never stop taking your prescription before you’ve finished the full course of medication.

If you’re taking the liquid form of Keflex, always shake the bottle thoroughly before measuring your dose.

Common side effects to taking a Keflex prescription include:

• Nausea
• Diarrhea
• Vomiting

People who have allergies to penicillin or other cephalosporin antibiotics should talk to a doctor before they take cephalexin. If you do, you could be more likely to have an allergic reaction to this medication.
